Electricity Industry

The Electricity Industry has four main components.

Electricity Generation
Electricity in New Zealand is mostly generated from hydro, gas, coal and geothermal powerstations.
Electricity Transmission
The electricity transmission system is owned by Transpower.
Electricity Distribution
There are around 28 lines companies that own the local electricity distribution networks.
Electricity Retailers
An electricity retailer is a company which buys electricity from generators and then sells it to consumers.
