The Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010 came into force on 4 May 2010. These regulations make new requirements on gas appliance suppliers.

Under the transitional provisions of the Gas (Safety & Measurement) Regulations 2010, the 1993 regime may continue to be used in respect to the equivalent gas appliance safety provisions until 4 May 2012.

Complete the form below to register with Energy Safety as a gas appliance or fitting supplier. As the regulations apply to the New Zealand importer or New Zealand manufacturer the registration must come from a New Zealand legal entity. Clicking on teh orange question mark icon will provide help on filling in the form.

When the registration is approved by Energy Safety, an email containing login details will be send to the address provided. Allow two working days for this process, assuming all information is correct.

Note: That the "personal" details are those of the person responsible for the declarations. They will not be visible on the declarations as visible to the public. They are required by the regulations and will be used by Energy Safety to contact the supplier.

Under the 1993 regulations if you are going to be supplying more than 10 of a particular appliance you are a "Tier 1" supplier. "Tier 2" suppliers are for suppliers of "one-off" type appliances. See safety obligations: gas appliances and fittings for more detail. "Tier 2" suppliers do not enter declarations on-line. They complete a paper based form. Do not register as a Tier 2 supplier if you are going to be making declarations under the 2010 regime.
