to the building structure. The electrical equipment involved in this incident was outdoor decorative display lighting – Christmas tree lights.
It is essential that when installing outdoor decorative display lighting you follow this advice:
• Use RCD protection for all outdoor electrical supplies.
• If you are using electricity outdoors make sure it is appropriately installed so there is no electric shock or fire risk. In particular, make sure wires/cables are not mechanically damaged, stressed, or subjected to cutting on sharp edges and the electrical fittings/light displays are not subject to excessive temperature rises.
• All fittings/extension cords used should be suitable for outdoor use.
• If using multi-plugs, make sure they will not be subjected to moisture and are not overloaded.
If you are unsure about the safety of your decorative lighting have it checked out by a registered electrical worker.
