Point of Supply
[ Last Updated 29 April 2010 ]
Short Description
The new regulations define the point of supply which is applied in the regulations and also in the Gas Act and the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act
The Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010 (the Regulations) came into force on 4 May 2010. A significant feature of the Regulations, as compared with the Gas Regulations 1993, is that they prescribe where the point of supply is deemed to be.
The definition of point of supply has been applied in the following legislation:
- In the Gas Act 1992, where the point of supply defines the downstream boundary of a gas distribution system. This in turn defines the definition of a gas installation;
- The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006, where the point of supply defines the meaning of gasfitting (prescribed work). This has the effect (in respect to LPG cylinder supply) of moving the point where gasfitting begins to the outlet of LPG cylinders (from a former position at the outlet of first stage pressure regulators);
- And in the Regulations itself, in relation to requirements for odorisation, gas specification and gas pressure.
