Certificate of Compliance

[ Last Updated 27 March 2006 ]

Q. Is Certificate of Compliance (CoC) Certification Required for Small Additions, say Two Socket Outlets?

A. Yes, a CoC is required by regulation 39.

Q. When Should I Issue a Certificate of Compliance?

A. Whenever you have installed new wiring or switchboards in an electrical installation. Replacement of existing fittings does not require a Certificate.

Q. Do the Electricity Regulations Require that a Copy of the CoC is Provided to Territorial Authorities (City or District Council) for the Building Land Information Memorandum (LIM) process?

A. There is no mandated requirement to provide a CoC copy for the LIM process operated by territorial authorities (TAs). Some TAs now require a CoC copy for new buildings and major additions to existing buildings for their LIM records as a service to future TA clients requesting a LIM.

Q. Can Delivery of a COC be Delayed for Non-payment Cases?

A. No, delivery of a CoC within 20 days is a mandated requirement of the Electricity Regulations.
