Standards Processes

[ Last Updated 2 July 2007 ]

Q. In Fig 7.8.1 of AS/NZS 3000, the MEN link in the LV MEN switchboard is missing.

A. Noted, this will be corrected in a future AS/NZS 3000 amendment.

Q. How will amendments to AS/NZS 3000 and the companion standards be issued?

A. The normal Standards process will issue AS/NZS 3000 and companion standard's amendments. They will also be notified in "Electron" magazine.

Q. Has consideration been given to combining AS/NZS 3000 and its companion Standards into one publication?

A. Yes, however, it is not considered practical to produce such a publication for a number of reasons.

Q. Will AS/NZS 3000 be used in South Pacific islands?

A. The Pacific islands have used either the New Zealand Electricity Regulations or the AS 3000 Australian Wiring Rules for many years. It is assumed that these will continue to be used.

Q. Does the joint Standards process give rise to unwanted requirements for New Zealand in AS/NZS 3000?

A. No. Both countries retain their sovereignty in the Standards process.

Q. Where can I get a copy of the Electricity Regulations and amendments?

A. These can be purchased from Bennett's Bookshop or other retail outlets listed by the Parliamentry Counsel Office website.  Or you can download a copy of the Electricity Regulations from this website.

Q. Does Standards copyright apply to the testing/certification forms contained in the companion Standards?

A. No.

Q. Could the Standards be made available for viewing on the website?

A. All Standards whether they are in hard copy or electronic format are subject to copyright and unless a particular document is made available free of charge, as is the case with some amendments, the Standard must be purchased.

Q. Is an "all electronic standards package" available?

A. Standards New Zealand do produce some electronic standards packages and if required, could produce special packages to suit individual requirements. Contact Sales Section, Standards New Zealand for details. Phone (04) 498 5991.
