Q. In a domestic installation, is the use of separate main switches for lifts or multiple tariff metering permitted?
A. AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8.3.3.1 allows the use of multiple mains switches for different tariffs, lifts, etc. But these must be clearly labelled as main switches as well as their other use.
Q. Is a socket outlet IP rating compromised if a matching IP rating plug is not used?
A. Yes. The socket outlet IP rating requires the use of a matching IP rated plug and the plug locking ring to be correctly engaged.
