Q. What Standards Should I Refer to if I Want to Carry Out Electrical Work or Select Equipment for a Medical Electrical Location?
A. The performance-based regulatory environment allows the use of alternative solutions and, consequently, it is recommended that electrical work in medical locations be carried out in accordance with AS/NZS 3003 and the Standards that Standard cites. Equipment for medical locations should now be selected to comply with the AS/NZS 3200 series and maintained in accordance with the recommendations of AS/NZS 3551 or the other applicable equipment-specific maintenance or use standards. Electrical equipment for medical locations should be used in accordance with AS/NZS 2500. These Standards are extensively aligned, or being aligned, with international guidelines.
