The principal Regulations relating to the General Safety requirements are Regulations 69, 76 and 77 of the Electricity Safety Regulations 2010.

Prohibited products
The Regulations also contain provisions for prohibiting the New Zealand manufacture, importation, sale, installation and use of specific products that are, or are likely to be a hazard.
