Socket outlet

Prior to being offered for sale in New Zealand, Socket Outlets within the following definition must be:
- Approved for sale or certified by a recognised Certification scheme, and
- Covered by a Supplier Declaration of compliance.
Definition
An electrical device which—
(a) is for fixing at a point at which fixed wiring terminates;
(b) provides a detachable connection with the pins of a plug;
(c) has two, three, or four contacts; and
(d) has a maximum rating of 20 A;
but does not include—–
(e) an outlet within the scope of AS/NZS 3123 or AS/NZS 3131.
Applicable Compliance Standard
AS/NZS3112 (replaces AS/NZS 3123)
