Prior to being offered for sale in New Zealand, Portable Socket Outlets (EPODS) within the following definition must be:
- Approved for sale or certified by a recognised Certification scheme, and
- Covered by a Supplier Declaration of compliance.
Definition
An electrical device which:
1. is a household type;
2. as its primary function, extends supply from a socket-outlet;
3. is portable;
4. incorporates facilities for the insertion of a plug or plugs; and
5. has a rating not exceeding 20 A;
-but does not include
6. a cord extension set
Applicable Compliance Standards:
Integral pin type AS/NZS 3122
other AS/NZS 3105
Product limitations
Class 0 and 0I appliances are not permitted in New Zealand
