Safety update — using crimping tools to ensure an effective termination
Electrical workers need to be aware that switchboard manufacturers are using multi stranded cables in switchboards, these cables require special crimping ferrules, which are normally supplied with the switchboards, and crimping tools to ensure an effective termination.
Recently there was a catastrophic failure in a three phase meter as a result of a poor termination when terminating these multi stranded cables.
The photos below show the result of the failure and the proper way to crimp ferrules.
